Italian and Ranch Dressing Mixes

Good morning everyone!  Today I am going to share recipes for making Italian and Ranch dressing mixes.  Did you know you could make these at home?  I like to make up batches and keep them in little ziploc bags in my spice cupboard.  That way whenever I have a recipe that calls for a packet or if I just want to make up some dressing, it’s right on hand.  Making these mixes at home also ensures that you control the sodium content and that there’s no msg (which seems to be found in everything nowadays!)

So without further ado,  here are the recipes. They can easily be doubled or tripled. Enjoy! 🙂

Ranch Dressing Mix

  • 1/4 cup dry milk powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp parsley
  • 1/2 tsp dillweed
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion flakes
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • freshly ground black pepper to taste

Combine all ingredients.

To make dressing:  Combine 2 Tb of mix with 1 cup mayonnaise and 1 cup milk.  Approximately 2 Tb of mix equals one packet.  You can add more o less depending on how strong of a Ranch flavor you want.

  • 1 Tb parsley
  • 1/4 tsp celery seed

Combine all ingredients.

To make dressing:  Combine 2 Tb of mix with 1/4 cup white vinegar, 2/3 cup olive oil, and 2 Tb water in a blender.  Blend until smooth.  Approximately 2 Tb equals one packet.
