I’m always curious about other peoples’ kitchens, what the layout is and how they’re decorated. And since this is a food blog, I thought I would give y’all a tour of my cozy little kitchen. The place where all the cooking magic happens!
This is the entrance to the kitchen. As you can see, I have one long counter, and the rest of the kitchen space is very open. I love that because our apartment kitchen was so cramped that there was barely any room to move if both Jay and I were in there together. Here that’s not a problem!
Since counter space is limited, the microwave sits on its own wooden stand. Coffee cups and other cooking knick knacks have a home on the shelf underneath. And now that our kitchen table is actually in the kitchen rather than tucked away in a corner, we’ve been using it more often.
I love this sign.
Here’s a view down the other end of the countertop. The large toaster oven you see is what I do probably 90% of my baking in. It’s a convection oven, and other than my large muffin pan and pizza pan, all my baking dishes fit in it. It uses a lot less energy than the big oven, which means I save money! As you’ve also probably noticed by now, I have a lot of apple-y things. That wasn’t really planned to begin with, but when we bought our table and chairs from Ikea the only color chairs they had in stock were red. I could have waited, but I decided to go ahead and get the red chairs, and then I had to think how I could decorate around them. Now I really like the red and white colors in the kitchen, it gives it a homey, comforting feel I think. I also have several cow-related decorations as well, so maybe I have a combination apple-cow themed kitchen? In any case, I like it!
Speaking of cows, here are my Moo Moo’s on the shelf above the sink.
Finally, here’s a view back towards the entrance to the kitchen. Notice the little tribute to my Florida roots above the computer.
And that’s my kitchen! I hope you’ve enjoyed this little tour. My kitchen may be humble and nothing fancy, but it’s cozy and it’s definitely the heart of my home
